How To Fix Low Quality Images For DTF Printing

How To Fix Low Quality Images For DTF Printing

If you get an alert or warning inside the Designer Studio screen as shown in the screenshot below, then your image/file is low quality or low resolution and will probably not look good when printed.

How Can I Fix or Improve The Quality?

Best Options:

  1. Option 1: Convert the image to Vector format. A vector file will always be high quality, no matter what size it is. But this is usually only best for images with solid colors (not pictures or photos).
  2. Option 2: Go back to the original or raw file and resave it with higher quality settings. Make sure your image is set to the size you want it printed and then save it at 300dpi.

Good Options:

  1. Option 3: If converting to Vector is not an option and you do not have access to the original file, you can try using tools within a Graphic Design software. Adobe Photoshop can adjust the size and quality of your existing image, with decent results. But these kind of adjustments are best for small, incremental changes (example: original image is 2" x 2" 100dpi and you need a 4" x 4" 150dpi). These tools are not miracle workers. If the image is 3" x 3" at 72dpi and you want a 10" x 10" at 300dpi, you will be very disappointed.
  2. Option 4: Hire a professional designer to use the best tools and techniques to improve the quality. Using a graphic designer that is familiar with DTF and knows how to optimize the file/image will give you the best results. You hire a designer from HouseDTF.com by choosing the 'Help From Designer' option on our DTF Transfers By Size or UV DTF Stickers By Size products.

Bad Option (please do not do this):

  1. Option 5: You can resave the file at a larger size, or tell it to save as a higher DPI. But these changes do not actually improve the image quality. They will just bypass our Designer Studio's quality check. The actual printed transfer you receive will probably look low quality, fuzzy, pixelated, or have jagged edges.
