Ordering

How do I order DTF Transfers?

Ordering DTF transfer on our www.housedtf.com website is quick and easy. After creating an account, choose between ordering:

  • DTF Transfers By Size (priced per piece)
  • DTF Transfer Gang Sheet (priced per sheet)

Then just confirm sizing, quantity, and upload your design file (before uploading, be sure your design file meets our Artwork Guidelines).


Can I cancel my order?

Our Order Process & Cancellation Policy

To ensure your order is fulfilled as quickly as possible, it is put into the production queue moments after you complete your purchase. Because of this automated process, we cannot guarantee that an order can be canceled once it has been placed.

Requesting a Cancellation

NOTE: Unpaid orders do not require a cancellation request.
If you need to attempt to cancel an order, please contact our Customer Service team immediately with your order number.
Cancellation is a best-effort service and is not guaranteed. The window to intercept an order is very small.
If we are successful in canceling your order before it enters production, a $10.00 service fee will be deducted from your refund to cover processing costs.

Can I change my order after submitting it?
Only certain changes are allowed to DTF orders at this time.

We cannot add to, remove, or make changes to the products after your order has been placed and put into production.

It is possible to request a change to the shipping method (ex. you chose Will Call but want to ship). Below are the conditions for this kind of change:
  1. Change from Will Call to Shipping - this request, if approved, would incur a $10.00 Change Fee, plus the cost of shipping.
  2. Change from Shipping to Will Call - this request, if approved, would incur a $10.00 Change Fee and the original shipping costs will not be refunded.
To request a change to your order, please email support@housedtf.com.
Can I request a RUSH?
Yes, you can request us to RUSH or expedite your order for an additional fee.

This option can be found on the Shopping Cart or Checkout page.

RUSH Orders are pushed ahead of Standard Orders, but there is no guarantee timing. Normally RUSH Orders can be completed within 1 Business Day, but larger orders ($500.00 or more) could take additional time/days.
Can I get help with my artwork?
Yes! When ordering your DTF Transfers, select the 'Help From Designer' option. An artist help fee will be added for up to 30 minutes of assistance. This fee is non-refundable.
Which file format should my artwork be?
Vector artwork is preferred, as it gives the highest quality print. Raster artwork is acceptable, but make sure the quality is at least 300dpi at the actual size you want it printed. DPI less than 300 can result in bad print quality and fuzzy/pixelated edges.

What are DTF Transfers?
DTF (direct-to-film) transfers are full color, printed heat transfers. Using CMYK and White inks, your design is printed onto a clear polyester liner, coated with an adhesive and heat cured. After curing, the transfers are ready to heat press onto your garment or store on the shelf for later use. DTF printing allows for fine detail, unlimited colors and gradients with no outlines. 'DTF by Wellington' transfers are applied at 290° for 12-15 seconds making them compatible with a wide array of garments and fabrics.
What is the minimum and maximum size of uploaded art files?
Here is our minimum and maximum size:
  1. Minimum artwork design size is .25" x .25" (6.5mm x 6.5mm)
  2. Maximum artwork design size is 20" wide x 50" (508mm x 1270mm)
Maximum file size for upload is 150mb.
How do I heat apply my DTF Transfers?
These transfers easily heat apply to cotton, polyester, poly/cotton blends, and tri-blends at 290° for 12-15 seconds at Medium #5 pressure. Peel hot or cold. Optional: cover and seal an additional 5 seconds for a matte finish and superior hand.

Tip: If peeling hot, peel the film off in a VERY QUICK motion. Peeling slowly may result in your transfer lifting and tearing. If you're still having trouble, try peeling from a different direction. If any corners or edges lift up, carefully lay them back down and press again for 5-10 seconds. If all else fails, wait for the transfer to cool completely and peel cold.

Notes
DTF Transfers can also apply to Nylon and Spandex, but results may vary so testing is recommended.
How long will my DTF Transfers last?
DTF Transfers should withstand 50 washes. For longer life, we recommend turning the garment inside out, washing cold, and tumble dry with low heat.
What is the shelf life of DTF Transfers?
Unused DTF Transfers can last anywhere from 1 month to 1 year or more. It depends on how you store them. Here is what we recommend:
  1. Store your DTF Transfers in a sealable container (zip-loc bag or box with airtight lid)
  2. Add some silica or moisture wicking (desiccant) packets to your storage container to remove excess moisture
  3. Keep your DTF Transfer flat while in long term storage to prevent warping or damage
  4. Do not stack you transfer too high, since excessive weight could cause problems with the ink or adhesive for the transfers on the bottom
  5. Store your transfer in a climate controlled environment - between 50-70° F
  6. Keep DTF Transfers away from direct sunlight or other sources of UV light
Notes
NOTE: While not recommended, we had no trouble heat applying DTF Transfers that sat out in our warehouse for about 7 months - a dusty environment, not sealed in a container, exposed to varying humidity and heat.

Design File(s)

Will my design print exactly how it looks on screen?
Unfortunately, no. The way your design looks on screen is often not how it prints as DTF. This is due to how various screens show colors and also because of the different RIP software settings applied before printing. 
Why does the preview image on the screen look low-resolution or fuzzy after I upload my design? Will the final DTF transfer print this poorly?
Don't worry! The final DTF print will use your original, high quality file.

When you upload a file to the website, the image you see on screen is a lower resolution thumbnail or snapshot of your design file, not the actual print-ready file itself. The website creates this lower-quality preview for speed and efficiency, allowing the pages with this thumbnail image to load quickly, while still providing a visual way to confirm what you uploaded.

Application

How To Apply DTF Transfers
Here are the application instructions for our DTF Transfers:
  1. Set your heat press to 290°F / 144°C.
  2. Adjust pressure to Medium (#5 for Hotronix presses)
  3. Preheat your garment 3-5 seconds to smooth out wrinkles and remove moisture.
  4. Press DTF Transfer for 12-15 seconds
  5. Peel: Hot* or Cold
Optional: For a softer feel, after peeling the plastic film off the DTF Transfer, press again with a cover sheet (Kraft Paper, T-Seal Sheet, etc..) and press for another 5 seconds.

*TIP: If peeling hot, peel the plastic film off in a VERY QUICK motion. Peeling too slowly may result in your transfer lifting off the garment or tearing. If you're still having trouble, try peeling from a different direction. If corners or edges lift up, carefully lay them back down and press again for 5-10 seconds. If all else fails, peel cold.
Will DTF Transfers apply to nylon, spandex, or lycra?
Wellington House has done some very limited testing in-house, applying DTF to nylon and spandex. We have had success with these applications but always recommend testing prior due to the combination of fabrics, weaves, coatings, and dyes used in the textile industry.
Will DTF apply to waterproof fabrics?
Wellington House has done some limited testing and had success with DTF sticking to waterproof/water-resistant fabrics. But with the wide variety of fabrics and coatings, we always recommend testing first.
Can DTF Transfers be removed?
Yes, but it isn't mess-free or convenient. Your success will depend on the size and complexity of your artwork. However, if you find yourself needing to remove a DTF transfer, here is what you can do:
  1. Start by getting VLR-Vinyl Letter Remover or you can use Acetone.
  2. You'll also need a clean rag or t-shirt to apply the liquid.
  3. First apply the solvent in a test area to check if the garment is going to bleed its color. If it looks ok and doesn't bleed you can proceed with the process.
  4. Apply the solvent to the rag and then to the actual transfer so it can begin to absorb into the DTF transfer
  5. After 10 seconds you can start rubbing at the transfer with the goal of peeling the ink away from the shirt. This will happen in bits and pieces.
  6. Keep soaking your rag and then soaking and rubbing at the design until all the ink is removed.
How much effort you put into removing the residue is up to you. Keep in mind a lot of blemishes will be covered up with a new design. After letting it air dry you can come back and apply a new DTF Transfer using the normal application.

Printing

Will colors be an exact match?
No, exact color matching is not provided. Transfers are printed in CMYK not RGB. The colors on your screen are not an accurate representation of how artwork will print.

Will my DTF Transfers print with a white background?
DTF Transfers will only print with a white background if the design file is setup and saved that way. 

White backgrounds are part of your design file when:
  1. Your design file is saved as a JPG/JPEG
  2. Not selecting transparent background when saving as a PNG file
  3. Forgetting to check for and remove background layers in your design program
Design programs like:
  1. Adobe Illustrator
  2. Adobe Photoshop
  3. CorelDRAW
will allow you to save a PDF without a white background. Just make sure there are no white layers or objects you do not want printed included in the file.

Alert
Canva users MUST download their files as a PNG with transparent background. Downloading a PDF will include a solid white background, and this will get printed.
What color formats can I use with DTF?
While our website/online system supports RGB and CMYK for submitting artwork, the DTF prints are produced using CMYK inks.
So using CMYK colors in your design file will give you the most accurate and consistent results.
Warning
Using RGB or other colors (Pantone or other SPOT colors) will get converted to CMYK before printing, which can result in color shifting. This is NOT recommended.
What kind of printers / ink do you use?
The DTF printers, inks, and other materials we use for our ‘in-house’ DTF production are the result of painstaking research, development, and fine-tuning. We consider this information proprietary and therefore choose not to share it. We encourage you to research the various options available in this market to suit your individual needs.
Can I Print A Photo With DTF?
YES! Photos, pictures, and all sorts of image types can be printed as a DTF Transfer. Of course, the quality will depend on the resolution and size of the image/photo. Also keep in mind that our DTF Transfers tend to print colors darker than what you see on screen, so if the photo contains dark colors or shadows, you may want to lighten it before uploading.

Pricing

How much do DTF Transfers cost?
DTF Transfers By Size start at $0.06 per square inch, but there are discounts for higher quantities.

DTF Transfer Gang Sheets start $0.06 per square inch, but there are discounts for higher quantities.

All DTF orders have a $25.00 minimum, not including Shipping or RUSH fees.

There are no setup fee unless you choose the 'Help From Designer' option when ordering.
Why does the 'per piece price' not always correspond with the 'Total Price'?
Our improved method to calculate pricing gives you the best possible 'Total Price'. This can sometimes cause the Per Piece price to vary by $0.01. Here's an example:

Design Size: 12.4" x 5.1" = 63.24 > Round up to 64" > 64 x $0.06 = $3.84

New Pricing Calculation:
Design Size: 12.4" x 5.1" = 63.24"
Cost: 63.24 x $0.06 = $3.7944

Since we do not charge fractions of a penny, the price for 1 piece would be rounded to $3.79.

When ordering multiple pieces, the Design Cost of $3.7944 is used in the calculation, not the rounded $3.79. This can cause the Per Piece Price to change slightly.

$3.7944 x 4pcs = Total Price $15.1776, rounded to $15.18.

$15.18 / 4 = $3.795, rounded to $3.80.

Shipping

How will my transfers arrive?
DTF Transfers arrive on a sheet or a roll. At this time we do not offer pre-cut individual designs.
Can you combine my DTF order with other items to ship together?
No, we do not combine DTF orders with other products. All DTF orders are processed and shipped independently of other items. This ensures you get your DTF transfers quickly and avoids any confusion or delays.
How fast is production and shipping?
Standard DTF Transfer production normally takes 1-2 business days.

RUSH production can usually be completed within 1 business days (depending on the size and complexitiy of the order).

The cutoff time for receiving orders is 12:00pm PT Monday-Friday. Any orders placed after 12:00pm PT are considered received the following business day. Orders placed after 12:00pm PT on Friday are considered received Monday.

Shipping times vary, depending on your location and the shipping service you choose.

Do you ship outside the United States (USA)?
We do not ship directly to locations outside the US. However, if you are using a Shipping Broker or Freight Forwarder, we can ship your package to their location. After receiving the package, they will be responsible for handling the customs, taxes, and international shipping.
Can someone contact me when my order is done?
You will receive email notifications throughout the entire DTF production process. This includes when your order is 'In Production', when 'Production Is Finished', and if you are picking up locally, 'Order Complete - In Will Call'.
If you are ever curious about where your order is, you can check the status online in the My Orders section of your account, or on the Order Status page.

You can contact our team if you urgently need an update and estimated time of completion. However, because errors or malfunctions in the printing process can require us to reprint some or all of your transfers, we can only give estimated finish times.
